Hi There! I’m Jessika and I am the creator of Hip and Simple. I’ve always been drawn to creative projects. I grew up in a household where my mom crafted with wood a lot; we used to joke that we ate more sawdust than food in our house. I started teaching myself to design using Microsoft Publisher for my wedding invitations. Since then, I’ve studied graphic design and photography, learned more professional programs and have gained experience working with a variety of clients. As a hobby, I love to combine my love of design with wood projects and make signs that I’ve sold on Etsy as well as for gifts and things I’ve shared on this site. I’ve also done family, portrait, newborn and wedding photography.
The past few years I have been mainly been designing for creative and food bloggers to provide them with printable designs for their readers, invitations, branding, logos, etc. Outside of design, I have also provided clients with services of virtual assisting, social media assisting, research, web design and maintenance, newsletter design and implementation, etc.
I work full time in higher ed and utilize my freelance work and Hip and Simple for my creative outlet. I have a wonderful husband and a sweet little boy and girl who I adore and love to spend time with. Outside of family, crafting, design and work, I plan to return to school part time to finally finish up my BA; I’m so close! I also love tv and movies and probably spend way too much time watching but it’s my husband and my’s favorite past time.
If you’re interested in working with me on a design project, photoshoot in the Birmingham, AL area or just have a question, let me know!
