The basement is going well but we are at the point of waiting for things to be installed like cable and carpet so we will show the finished products soon.
In the mean time I have been meaning to show our new entertainment center.
Our old tv stand was low and not at all my style but I had it for quite a few years and it did the job. This old thing didn’t do a great job of hiding things either which I wanted to fix with a new option. Stephen isn’t a fan of mounting tvs to the wall, he worries it isn’t sturdy and could potentially fall. I wanted to get the tv higher and hide things in one piece of furniture.
I searched online and in stores for quite a while looking for the “right” or a great deal of a piece. I found this beauty online from KSL and immediately knew it was the one. It has such a great body and features, exactly what I had pictured in my head. Unfortunately it wasn’t the $20 I was hoping to spend but it was still a good deal and the bones fit exactly what I wanted.
I actually liked it in the white but it wasn’t in the greatest shape. There were dings and scratches and a lot of discoloration.
The feet are my favorite part! They were scratched really bad but I knew I could make it work.
I had intended to replace the handles all together because these are just hideous and you can see how dingy the paint was in some areas.
I love tangerine right now and so does Pantone since it is the color of the year. Our furniture and wall color, carpet, etc. is pretty neutral so having a bold piece was very appealing. I love the way it turned out!
The drawers all had a wooden base underneath them so I just had to pull out the drawers and paint them white to make room for the electronics that need to be out so their sensors can be found by the remote! I also painted the drawer pulls white to match the inside of the shelves.
I found this owl at Hobby Lobby and I love it so much! I also love the tangerine and blue together!
I am totally loving this transformation! I ended up really loving the drawer pulls with the final product, they just needed to ditch the gross brass finish!
