Bags Are Packed – Please Come Baby!

Dear baby of mine, we are so ready for you. Please stop kicking me and come out already! I am so uncomfortable and can’t wait to meet you! If you make it tomorrow, your birthdate will be 10.11.12 – wouldn’t that be great??? Our Dr. informed us this week that our due date is actually 10/13 not 10/15 as the nurse initially told us. That makes sense to me as that is what all of the websites said and they would write in our little appointment book what week / day we were on and it didn’t add up. Not that 2 days is that much of a difference, but it is at this point!!
I have decided that I am going to try everything I have heard of to induce labor today, so far this is what I have in mind:
Activities:
Mini Jogger
Walking
Lunges

Pedicure
Nice Warm Bath
Bumpy Car Ride
Food:
Fresh Pineapple with the core
Eggplant Parmesan
Jump Start Labor Ginger Cookies
Red Raspberry Leaf Tea
Spicy Hot Wings
I figure these are the most common every day things I can do. If they don’t induce labor, no harm no foul. Plus some of it will just be nice and relaxing. I will not resort to Castor Oil though- that sounds awful. My next Dr. appointment is on Tuesday so if these fail me, we can talk about some other options.
We have been packed and ready for the labor to kick in for weeks! I have found a lot of great blogs and articles through Pinterest about what people packed for the hospital and what they ended up needing and not needing. Even with taking all of that into consideration, I still feel like we over packed a little!
Here is what we have:
Mom & Dad Bag (Ah – it is so weird to think we will be called “Mom & Dad”! I love it)
For mom:
  • Nursing Bras (x2)
  • Socks (x3)
  • Night Gown & Robe
  • Homemade Hospital Gown
  • Going Home Outfit
For dad:
  • Shorts (x2)
  • Sweats
  • Shirts (x2)
  • Socks (x3)
  • Hoodie
Bath Stuff (all travel size stuff):
  • Body Scrubber
  • Kleenex
  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Qtips
  • Toothbrush Kit (x2)
  • Face Wash
  • Body Wash
To grab:
  • Flip flops
  • A little Make up
  • Chargers
And of course some snack stuff for Stephen. I know how he gets when he doesn’t eat so I wanted him to have some stuff while I can’t eat. You will notice in the picture below that I am a total dork. Everything in the bags are in bags and labeled. I hardly remember what I packed or what all of the baby stuff is, so hopefully that will help Stephen find stuff for me!

Technology Bag:

  • Laptop
  • Camera and Lenses – a million pictures will be taken! I was pretty conservative in this packing considering.
  • Video Camera
  • DVDs – Stephen pulled every movie we have about having a baby / giving birth! I thought it was very cute of him!

Baby Bag:

  • Burp Clothes (x3)
  • Socks (x4)
  • Mittens (x2)
  • Diapers
  • Wipes
  • Nursing Cover
  • Nursing Pads
  • Lanolin
  • Receiving Blanket
  • Grooming Kit
  • Kleenex
  • Sleepers (x2)
  • Going Home options (Newborn size and 0-3 months incase he is a big boy!)
  • Swaddle Blanket

We have also heard that bringing our nursing pillow will help with that side of things. We may also put some blankets and pillows in the car, just incase we end up needing something in the room from home. The list seems long and there are 3 bags but they are all light so hopefully it isn’t too bad! I would rather be safe than sorry, especially since we aren’t going to the hospital right by our house.

As I said in my last post, Molly has been super clingy, she follows me everywhere. She was in the bags checking everything out when I snapped this. We are excited for them to meet our little one. We have been prepping them by using baby shampoo on them, playing baby crying and laughing sounds from You Tube and letting them smell everything in the room and turning on all the toys, etc. We have some plans for the introduction time, hopefully it all goes well.
