I’ve been feeling like my little home is bare so I set out to start hanging things up and making it cozy. I wanted a place where I could easily update pictures of my quickly growing kids. I came up with this $5 Picture Clip Display that I’d like to share with you today.
This is one of those easy and quick projects that I love. I don’t know about you but I don’t have time for much more than that these days. We are living in a tiny apartment and I’ve held off hanging up our decor because our plan was to get into a house but we’re not positive of where we want to go so we may be here for a little while. I decided I’m sick of feeling like a temporary visitor in this place that is our current home so I’ve got to cozy things up.
While I was feeling amped up and inspired to dress my walls, I remembered I have lots of cute things we moved from Utah but they are in storage. I thought, no biggie. I opened the door and realized the boxes were in the back, like way in the very back of our storage under and through lots of boxes. Then I saw a spider, promptly closed the door and decided it was time to make something new anyway. Those old things will be new again whenever we do move!
I came up with this $5 picture clip display with stuff I had around the house and I love it!
Here’s what you need:
2-8″ – 1×2 boards
Bakers twine or twine or ribbon
2 – Small Sawtooth hangers
2 – Nails
Mini clothespins
Sandpaper
Paint if you wish
(If you happened to make my $10 DIY baby mobile, you could use some left over wood.)
Sand the edges of your wood to be sure there are no loose pieces. I decided to keep my wood natural but you could paint them if you like. Take your twine and wrap it around the top of one piece of wood. I did it 3 times and then tied it tight in the back.
Then pull the string the length you wish the display to be and wrap the twine around the top of the other piece of wood. Tie tight in the back.
Hammer in your small sawtooth hangers in the back of each piece of wood.
Hammer your nails in the wall and hang up the pieces. You want the twine to be not too tight but the clips and pictures will weigh down the twine too so not too loose either, just slightly.
Then clip up some pictures of your favorite things or people and you are done. Rotate or update as much as you like. I tallied up how much the supplies would cost, including the pictures and its only about $5!
I can’t believe how easy and awesome this $5 picture clip display was.
I went shopping in my Etsy store and hung up a few things that I haven’t sold to make a little collage for this wall. There is no use in them sitting in the closet so now I get some joy out of them before they go to their future homes one day.
