Happy Birthday my sweet, dear Libby! This darling girl of mine is 2 years old! I can hardly believe it has gone this fast already. She and I spent a little time together one morning and got these great toddler birthday pictures to capture her and her cute little personality!
Fair warning, there are a lot of photos in this post and it is cuteness overload! I feel like I just shared her 1 year photo shoot but here we are again, a year older. The saying “the days seem long but the years are short” is really starting to ring true.
This girl is amazing. I’ve never shared about how she has changed everything for us. Libby was a bit of a surprise, well her timing was. We had a hard time getting pregnant with Reece and so I just assumed we’d have those same troubles the second time around, ya know years later. Well right after Reece’s first birthday, I found out I was pregnant. Apparently being pregnant once can just help those things along, which my doctor told me when I went in for my first appointment with her. That would have been helpful for her to tell us about before but it worked out really well anyway.
The knowledge of her coming into our family sparked some really big changes. We decided to put our house on the market and move closer to work and something less expensive so I could possibly stay home with the kids. Well that turned out to be a good move because Stephen was offered a job in Alabama close to his family and already having our house on the market allowed us to make that move within 3 weeks. Her impending arrival really got us ready to be close to Stephen’s family so our kids could be close to cousins. It really changed the trajectory of our family plans and I have to say it’s all been amazing.
Stephen and I have been very close since we first met and started dating but even through these kids and a big move, I’ve been surprised at how much closer it has brought us. Anyway, we would not have made these changes if it weren’t for little Lib’s joining our family. She completes us and I can’t imagine our lives without her.
This little lady is not very verbal with words yet but she can sure tell you exactly what she wants. She is independent. Strong. Super physical and loves to climb and jump. I wonder if she might become a gymnast. She is so smart and loves to show you what she knows and when she understands you. She loves clothes and shoes. She loves food, especially off our plates. She likes trucks and dinosaurs. She has a temper and tantrums like I have never seen in my life. She can hold a grudge and give a glare that will send chills down your spine. She can convince you to do things you really don’t want to do. She actually bats her eyes, which I’ve never seen a human naturally do. I think she will be a great leader one day. Her smile will melt your heart. She can be gentle and sweet. She shows great compassion when she thinks someone is hurt. She loves to help with laundry and cleaning and just having a job to do in general. She is so proud. She is not quick to trust or open up to someone but she is worth the work to get a smile and chatter. And that laugh of hers is contagious.
She loves to read. In the middle of taking these pictures she grabbed a book and plopped down to read. This is so her; anywhere, anytime she can pick up a book. I love that this book matched her outfit too, better than I could ever plan myself.
This is actually her saying “cheese”.
Happiest Birthday my darling girl. Thank you to my wonderful mother-in-law for the outfit, all from Target! She adores that hat and all of her stylish wear!
