Today was the first day we had a contractor in to work on the basement. We have never worked with a contractor or hired anyone to come in for work so we weren’t sure what to expect. So far, so good. There was some framing that needed to be finished up. Mostly around vents where the ceiling will need to drop down to cover those. They seemed to wrap most of that up to get it ready for drywall.
We have a lovely gas line running alongside the vents that the builder didn’t put in the ceiling. The metal frame addresses that issue.
In the bathroom there were some coils hanging down and we thought we would need to angle the ceiling. They were able to do another box frame and push the coils up enough for a flat base. I think that will look nice.
There is also a water pipe that sticks out quite a bit around in one of the corners. Their framing will box out the wall to cover this.
They added some metal on two of the walls to have something to screw the drywall into.
The window needed to be shifted slightly, again they used metal to solve it. It looks great!
We are excited for them to start the drywall!
And what is this? Stephen and I both think it looks disgusting but I am sure it serves some purpose!
It is exciting to watch the progress, more to come!
