We finished most of the work in the basement weeks ago but just finally had the blinds installed so I figure it is time to show some pictures of the final product.
When you walk in the door the first thing is our new office area. This is mostly Stephen’s space. He used to go up in the office to download music or do whatever he does on the computer so it is nice to have this in our family area so we can still be around each other.
Next to the office area is the new living room. We have so much more space than we did upstairs, we love it. We used to keep our extensive movie collection up in the office because we didn’t have any room for it near the tv area. We had to build that shelving unit ourselves because I couldn’t find storage large enough to hold all of our DVDs. It holds over 600 DVDs. We had to move our TV series collection into the closet because it was overflowing. It is safe to say that we love movies although most of them are Stephen’s.
It will be nice to have more carpet area to play with the little one.
We also have a nice new closet area.
The door on the left below leads to an unfinished utility area and the one on the right is the bathroom.
The new bathroom. I love the shower curtain we found at Kohls.
I am sure this toilet paper holder is interesting to everyone else but I just love it. We do have a small amount of space under the new vanity but it is nice to have a stock of TP in a convenient place, it just makes so much sense!
We have wanted to do this for a long time but something else more important always comes up. We are really excited for this new space with our growing family. We couldn’t be more grateful for my dad and Kari and Stephen’s parents for making this happen for us. My dad came down and put in a lot of sweat equity and we did the painting and work on the space. We love the way it turned out and spend most of our time at home down there. It is also nice because when we go to sell there are options for it to be a big bedroom or a wall can be put up for a small office space / bedroom area, etc.
