Baked Mac & Cheese

Everybody loves a good Mac. This is my favorite, creamy, super simple Baked Mac & Cheese.

Baked Mac and Cheese - 3

My mom and grandma have a yummy mac recipe. The problem is, every time I make it, it comes out dry. I don’t know what I am doing wrong. So, I’ve been on the hunt for a good, solid recipe for a while. We have tried a bunch and to be honest, when I put it on the menu I can tell my husband cringes slightly each time. We’ve had our fair share of bland and some even gross – I never knew there were so many ways to make it. I’ve found one though that I love and has proven itself to be easy and consistent each time. I’ve adapted this from a couple of stovetop mac and cheese recipes we have tried, tweaked and then decided to bake. After trying this, it has received the stamp of approval from my husband so it’s a keeper and I must share it with you today!

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Spray some cooking spray in a casserole dish. Cook your macaroni al dente. Drain and keep in the strainer. In the same pot, melt your butter and whisk in the flour.

Once melted, stir in the milk then add the cheese and continue to stir until the cheese is melted.

Add in the salt and pepper and then noodles and mix to combine. Evenly spread the mac & cheese in the casserole dish. Toast your bread, lightly butter it and cut into small squares and sprinkle on top of the mac & cheese. Bake covered for 30 minutes.

I love the texture of the extra crispy bread on top. It adds so much and is really easy. This is seriously delicious.
