I’ve got a fun little gift idea for you that is simple to put together but is pretty and super functional. This DIY Gold Plastic Toy Dino Jewelry Holder and Dish is one of my favorite creations!
My son is obsessed with dinosaurs lately. We’ve learned a ton about them and I’ll admit, I’m totally digging it. Being the mom to a little boy is so fun! Anyway, when I was coming up with ideas for my mom’s birthday, I asked my son what he thought we should send. His response, “a dinosaur” was no surprise. I came up with this fun DIY Gold Plastic Toy Dino Jewelry Holder and Dish that I thought she would love and would mean something to my son. It also only cost me a few dollars which was a nice bonus.
I had a cheap dish at Hobby Lobby that I got a while back when it was on sale for 50% off. I had not found anything to use it for until now.
I picked up a stegosaurus dinosaur from the dollar store and glued it to the dish. I took it outside and spray painted it with some leftover gold paint I had from my Laurel Wreath project.
Let it dry really well. I added a thin coat of polyurethane to help protect it from scratches and keep paint from chipping and getting on the jewelry. That’s it. That’s all it takes.
I love the way it turned out! My son had a little bit of a hard time letting it go. He kept wanting to play with it. Luckily I thought ahead and got a dino toy for him to keep, it’s the little things to keep a toddler from a melt down!
