Bags Are Packed – Please Come Baby!

Dear baby of mine, we are so ready for you. Please stop kicking me and come out already! I am so uncomfortable and can’t wait to meet you! If you make it tomorrow, your birthdate will be 10.11.12 – wouldn’t that be great??? Our Dr. informed us this week that our due date is actually 10/13 not 10/15 as the nurse initially told us. That makes sense to me as that is what all of the websites said and they would write in our little appointment book what week / day we were on and it didn’t add up. Not that 2 days is that much of a difference, but it is at this point!!
I have decided that I am going to try everything I have heard of to induce labor today, so far this is what I have in mind:
Activities:
Mini Jogger
Walking
Lunges

Do What You Love – Free Printable

I am on day 3 of being off work for maternity leave and I am already bored! Of course things will get more interesting once this little guy makes his appearance but until then, I am trying to keep myself busy (and rested)! It is interesting how time to yourself leaves you time to think about things. I recently faced a sort of rejection that I thought was coming but still is never fun to receive. My maternity leave has come with great timing to allow me to accept that and think about where I want to go from here. I do have some big life altering changes headed my way and am so thrilled to experience those with Stephen. I have always loved the quote above and am hoping to keep that in mind over the next 3 months and try to figure out what that means to me. As a side note, I think the colors on the quote are my new favorite color combination!

Nursery Preview

The nursery is still in progress. I have so many ideas and plans and then I get new ideas and change the plans. It is getting close to the due date so things are looking to stay closer to what they are now. I still want to wrap a few things up and get everything organized after washing clothes, bedding etc. But wanted to show a little of what I have worked on.

The nursery is pretty neutral with lots of beige, tans, browns but then also touches of blues, greens and a little grey. I have been dying to do large horizontal stripes somewhere and decided to do it here when it was going to be the guest bedroom. I left the original wall color (light tan) and just painted the white stripes, they are 18 inches and did it in the entire room.  [Read more…]

DIY Double Frame Project Tutorial

I am super excited to show this. Remember before when I showed our new living room and how the stuff on the wall didn’t seem to be the right scale or fit?

Living Room Update – Coffee Table Redo

As I mentioned in the seahorse wall hanging post, I have been working to update our living room that was without furniture for a few weeks. We had this coffee table stored under our stairs since we moved in. It was my mom’s and was just stained wood and when Stephen and I moved into our first apartment we painted it black. It was really scratched up and not in a rustic or in style way. I also think it really weighed down the room and made it too dark and didn’t work as well with our new rug – which was the inspiration for the entire room.
So I used the same blue paint from the seahorse project and put on a fresh coat over the table. I sanded it down exposing a lot of the black paint and then ran some black tinted glaze over the table.

Seahorse Wall Hanging

With the basement remodel, we moved all of our living room furniture down to the basement, leaving our upstairs living room empty. Our neighbor stopped by one night and I was kind of a mess, I had just experienced a blown out tire on the freeway and Stephen and I just got home from dealing with that. I was in sweats my hair was pulled up and I had no bra on – a real shining moment. We had projects and junk all over the table after working to finish the basement. She stopped by because she saw me on the side of the freeway and wanted to exchange numbers and to bring us a baby gift. While she was over, she made a comment about our living room and how she didn’t know we didn’t have any furniture. If you heard the concern in her voice, you would realize how dire the entire scene probably looked to her. Anyway, my house is not usually like that and it was the worst time for someone who had never been over to see it.

Since then we have been working on getting the new living room set up (as planned but quickly inspired to move up because of the neighbor’s visit). Also, with Stephen’s mom planning to visit, I was really inspired to move on projects I had in my head.

Basement Reveal

We finished most of the work in the basement weeks ago but just finally had the blinds installed so I figure it is time to show some pictures of the final product.

When you walk in the door the first thing is our new office area. This is mostly Stephen’s space. He used to go up in the office to download music or do whatever he does on the computer so it is nice to have this in our family area so we can still be around each other.
